Bravo To The Latest Revival Of The Gelston House

"The Gelston House, for those who like their dining experience steeped in tradition, has thankfully returned, having been dark for a while, and is once again a suitable accompaniment for its neighbor, the historic Goodspeed Opera House."
We visited on a recent weeknight and were overwhelmed all over again by the spectacular setting. The Gelston House looks as buffed and pampered as a big old riverboat steaming up the Connecticut.

"Enter a portal of history as you enter the door of this building.  Records indicate that as early as 1736 there was a tavern on the site. Shipbuilding, military enlistment, rum running and other activities have all been centered in the variety of establishments on this site.  Buildings and their uses came and went until 1853 when the basic structure that exists today was built.   This companion building to the Goodspeed Opera House now houses a 125-seat restaurant, 6 guest rooms, and function halls that provide a perfect setting for celebratory receptions or business group meetings.
